UMOJI Global Market Report

Executive Summary

UMOJI is positioned in a large and growing global market spanning restorative justice, reentry support, trauma-informed care, digital inclusion, workforce development, and community wellness. Based on internal business context and public website signals, UMOJI has strong early-stage differentiation: a faith-centered, multicultural, trauma-informed model with both local service credibility and global movement branding.

Global Market Context

The public market need is substantial. UMOJI’s website cites a global incarcerated population of approximately 11.5 million people, with prison overcrowding reported in around 120 countries. This points to a large international demand for reintegration, rehabilitation, housing, workforce readiness, and mental wellness support.

Adjacent markets relevant to UMOJI include:

  • Restorative justice and mediation services

  • Transitional and supportive housing

  • Workforce and entrepreneurship training

  • Digital arts, VR/AR, and creative apprenticeships

  • Faith-based and culturally responsive community care

  • Resource navigation and community support ecosystems

UMOJI’s Current Global Position

UMOJI appears to be operating as a hybrid of nonprofit service provider, ecosystem builder, and movement brand.

Current strengths include:

  • Presence across 120+ countries

  • Reach across 101+ ethnicities

  • 8,000+ individuals served since 2023

  • 23,500+ subscribers and 26,717+ contributors

  • 100+ partners and 1,303+ Oregon service locations

This suggests UMOJI already has international narrative reach, even if its operational density is still strongest in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest.

Public Website Signals

The website at umojienergy.com presents UMOJI as:

  • A registered Oregon 501(c)(3) with DOJ registration details visible

  • A “global community hub” rather than a single-program nonprofit

  • A platform with multiple pathways: resources, curriculum, clinics, apprenticeships, innovation, partnerships, and donations

  • A brand with strong mission language, broad program architecture, and expansion intent

The site also reinforces positioning around compliance, transparency, and systems-level justice impact.

Competitive Positioning

UMOJI is differentiated from typical nonprofits in five ways:

  1. Holistic model: combines justice, housing, wellness, entrepreneurship, and creative technology.

  2. Faith-centered but multicultural: broadens appeal across both church and community ecosystems.

  3. Asset-rich narrative: strong emphasis on IP, curriculum, media, and digital infrastructure.

  4. Partnership-ready framing: attractive to nonprofits, CSR teams, foundations, and public agencies.

  5. Scalable hub concept: the No Charge Zone and Green Zone models create a repeatable expansion story.

Market Opportunities

Highest-potential global opportunities appear to be:

  • Foundation and government funding tied to reentry, housing, and workforce outcomes

  • Corporate partnerships in digital inclusion, telecom, workforce tech, and wellness

  • Licensing curriculum, toolkits, and training models internationally

  • Faith-based network expansion through churches and justice ministries

  • Strategic media storytelling to convert awareness into donors and institutional partners

Strategic Risks

Key risks to manage:

  • Broad positioning may dilute the clearest offer for funders or buyers

  • Global narrative may outpace documented operational proof in some regions

  • Complex program portfolio may strain execution if systems are not standardized

Bottom Line

Globally, UMOJI is not just participating in a market. It is shaping a category at the intersection of restorative justice, reintegration, faith-based healing, and future-ready economic mobility. The opportunity now is to convert reach and vision into repeatable partnerships, measurable outcomes, and scalable revenue-backed expansion.

Target Population Statistics: Global Incarceration and Community Supervision Globally, the scale of incarceration is substantial, with approximately 11.5 million individuals imprisoned, a majority of whom are men. A significant challenge exists in prison overcrowding, as around 120 countries report occupancy rates exceeding their prison system capacity. Pre-trial detention further exacerbates this issue, with roughly one-third of the global prison population being presumed innocent yet confined. In the United States, and specifically within Oregon, a considerable number of individuals are under community supervision and reintegrating into society. At the close of 2022, an estimated 3,668,800 adults were under community supervision, encompassing probation or parole. Oregon releases approximately 143,640 men and 45,181 women from its prisons and jails annually. Wrongful Convictions: Adding to these challenges is the significant issue of wrongful convictions. While precise global figures are difficult to obtain, studies in the United States indicate that a disturbing number of individuals are imprisoned for crimes they did not commit. This can be due to factors such as: Eyewitness misidentification False confessions Flawed forensic science Police or prosecutorial misconduct Racial bias These wrongful convictions represent a profound miscarriage of justice and further underscore the systemic problems within the legal system. These statistics collectively define a target population characterized by: A large global population is affected by incarceration. Significant challenges related to prison overcrowding and pre-trial detention. A substantial number of individuals are transitioning from incarceration to community supervision, as evidenced by national and state-level data. Individuals impacted by wrongful convictions highlight systemic flaws and injustices. This data underscores the need for effective strategies focused on rehabilitation, reintegration, addressing systemic issues within the justice system, and, importantly, working to rectify and prevent wrongful convictions. This is a critical aspect of ensuring justice and aligns with a mission focused on fairness and equity.
